Donald Trump stated that the US is in discussions with four different groups regarding the sale of Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok, emphasizing that all options remain viable.
TikTok’s future has been uncertain since a law requiring its owner, ByteDance, to either sell the platform on national security grounds or face a ban. After assuming office, Trump signed an executive order delaying the law’s enforcement by 75 days.

Pamlico Capital has closed Pamlico Capital VI at its hard cap of $1.75bn, surpassing the initial $1.5bn target due to strong demand from both existing and new investors.
Pamlico focuses on equity investments ranging from $50m to $200m in growth-stage companies. The firm targets growth equity and buyout opportunities across communications, healthcare IT, information services, software, and tech-enabled services in North America. Since 2002, Pamlico has invested over $4bn across 80 companies.

Brasil Warrant Gestão de Investimentos, an independent asset management company, offered to acquire Verallia, a glass container manufacturing company, for €6.1bn ($6.6bn).
Mitsui O.S.K., a Japanese transport company headquartered in Toranomon, Minato, Tokyo, agreed to acquire LBC Tank Terminals, one of the world’s largest independent tank terminal operators, from Ardian, a private equity firm, for $1.715bn.
Mitsui O.S.K. is advised by Nomura.
Keppel, an asset manager and operator focusing on green investment in real estate, infrastructure, connectivity, and alternative assets, agreed to acquire Global Marine Group, one of the world’s largest independent subsea cable solutions providers, from J.F. UK's Assura shares rise on $2.08bn bid from KKR, Stonepeak. ( Reuters)
Assura announced that it would consider a £1.61bn ($2.1bn) takeover offer from US private equity firms KKR and Stonepeak Partners, sending shares of the British healthcare real estate investment trust up 14%.
Assura’s shares rose to about £0.46 ($0.6), still below their 2020 peak of £0.88 ($1.14) and under the latest offer of £0.49 ($0.63) per share. The company stated that its board has decided to engage in discussions with the consortium and allow a limited period of confirmatory due diligence.
Ferretti targets acquisition in 2025. ( Reuters)
Italian yacht maker Ferretti plans to pursue an acquisition this year but has not specified whether the target will be a brand, a shipyard or another asset.
The company is evaluating multiple opportunities and sees 2025 as a year for expansion. Ferretti, which owns seven brands including Riva speedboats, ended December with a net cash position of €125m ($135m), which could be used for M&A.

Brazilian meat giant JBS and Saudi-based Almarai are competing to acquire Alwatania, the largest poultry producer in the Middle East.
Both companies have submitted separate non-binding offers for a full buyout of Alwatania. Saudi firm Tanmiah Food and a consortium led by Ukrainian agri-tech company MHP have also placed bids.

Japan Post prices $4bn bank unit stake sale at high end. ( Bloomberg)
Japan Post Holdings has sold JPY592bn ($4bn) worth of Japan Post Bank shares, marking the largest stock sale in Japan since 2023 and continuing its decade-long privatization efforts.
The company sold 410m shares at JPY1,444 each, including an over-allotment option, representing a 2% discount from the previous closing price. Japan Post had initially planned to price the shares at a 2% to 4% discount, according to the deal’s term sheet.
Star Entertainment Group is reviewing a last-minute recapitalization proposal from Bally’s, which could result in the US casino group gaining control of the company.
The offer includes at least AUD250m ($157m) in fresh capital. As part of the proposal, Star would issue convertible notes that could represent at least 50.1% of the company.
