The chief executives of the two banks held at least one discussion, though no formal offer was put on the table.

Morgan Stanley Capital Partners has raised $3.2bn for its newest buyout fund, North Haven Capital Partners VIII, despite a challenging private equity fundraising environment.
The fund will target middle-market companies with earnings between $20m and $30m, according to Aaron Sack of Morgan Stanley Investment Management. It attracted several new investors from Asia and the Americas and is roughly 60% larger than its predecessor.

A takeover battle for a London-based healthcare REIT has shifted course after its board reversed course, backing a revised offer from a listed company over an earlier all-cash bid from a private equity firm.

Robert "Woody" Johnson IV, co-owner of the New York Jets and former US ambassador to the UK, has agreed to acquire a significant stake in Crystal Palace, the reigning FA Cup champion.
Johnson is expected to pay approximately $215m to John Textor, who holds over 40% of the club through his Eagle Football Group.
Holcim North American spinoff Amrize slips in trading debut. ( Bloomberg)
Amrize's shares declined in early trading on the Swiss stock exchange following its spinoff from Holcim, as the building materials group pursues value creation through a separate listing.
The North American cement maker’s stock fell as much as 8.4% to CHF42.20 ($51.66) in Zurich, compared to the reference price of CHF46.08 ($56.32) set by the Swiss exchange. At that reference price, Amrize was valued at approximately CHF26.1bn ($32bn).

Shift4, an integrated payments and commerce technology company, agreed to acquire Smartpay, a provider of payment processing and point-of-sale solutions, for NZ$296m ($179m), according to press releases.

The firm is working through the final terms of a deal with Premji Invest — the investment office of Wipro founder Azim Premji — and SBI. The transaction could value SBI General Insurance at up to $4.5bn.

KKR & Co. is nearing a deal to acquire an 85% stake in Chinese soda manufacturer Dayao.
The founders of Dayao are expected to retain a minority interest. While discussions are advanced, a final agreement has not yet been reached.

Chinese state-owned firms Beijing Capital Group, China State Construction Engineering and Guangdong Holdings have reportedly advanced to the second round of bidding for Suez's Chinese water infrastructure assets.
The utilities group is said to be considering a valuation of more than $2bn for the assets. Alternative options, including a partial sale or other restructuring measures, are also being explored.

Hellobike has partnered with Ant Group and CATL to establish a new autonomous vehicle company focused on level 4 robotaxi development.
The three firms committed more than CNY3bn ($417m) in initial capital to the Shanghai-based venture, which was formally registered on June 23.
The company will focus on research, safety applications and commercialization of self-driving technology.

Zhejiang Sanhua Intelligent Controls dipped slightly in its Hong Kong trading debut on June 23 following its HKD9.3bn ($1.2bn) stock offering. Shares closed 0.1% lower at HKD22.50 ($2.87).
The Chinese refrigeration component maker, which is expanding into advanced robotics, priced its shares at the top of the marketed range. The listing attracted several prominent cornerstone investors, including Jane Street, GIC and Schroders.

Maynilad Water Services has pushed back the listing date for its planned initial public offering on the Philippine Stock Exchange to no later than the end of October.
