US oil magnate Harold Hamm is partnering with Swiss trading house Mercuria to lead a multibillion-dollar drilling campaign in Argentina’s Vaca Muerta shale basin.
Hamm’s Continental Resources is acquiring a 50% stake in Phoenix Global Resources, a company controlled by Mercuria. The companies did not disclose the transaction value but plan to invest about $4bn over five years, with Phoenix targeting a fourfold increase in oil production to 100k barrels per day by 2031.

SpaceX approached artificial intelligence coding startup Cognition about a potential acquisition, as the rocket company seeks to expand its position in the AI sector.
Cognition did not engage with the takeover approach, while the companies remain in discussions about a potential partnership that could include Cognition using SpaceX’s computing capacity. No agreement has been reached, and the discussions could still end without a deal.

Canada’s WSP Global has reconfirmed its intention to acquire Dutch consulting and engineering group Arcadis after the target rejected two previous bids valued at up to €5.4bn ($6.3bn).
WSP has not disclosed a new offer price but plans to prepare an offer memorandum and submit it to the Dutch financial watchdog for review and approval by October 15. Discussions remain ongoing and the final terms of any offer have yet to be determined.

CapitaLand Investment and Malaysian developer IOI Properties Group are nearing a deal to acquire One Raffles Place, an iconic office development in Singapore’s commercial center, in a transaction that could value the property at just under SGD2.4bn ($1.9bn).
The Temasek-backed Singapore property asset manager and IOI Properties are looking to form a joint venture to complete the acquisition. Terms are still being finalized and may not result in a completed transaction.
SkyCity Entertainment starts strategic review of Adelaide casino. ( Bloomberg)
SkyCity Entertainment Group will begin a strategic review of its Adelaide casino after resolving years of regulatory scrutiny over governance and compliance with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing laws.
The Auckland-based company said the review follows a period of significant regulatory and operational change. The company did not provide further details on the review or potential outcomes.

Evolution Mining will consider acquisitions in Australia and North America and has not ruled out buying assets from Northern Star Resources if they come to market.

Shein is targeting a Hong Kong initial public offering launch on August 24, with a listing planned for September 1.

National Stock Exchange of India may allow its shares to trade on its own platform after listing on rival BSE, a move that could shift trading volumes and pave the way for the stock’s inclusion in NSE benchmark indexes.
The possibility was discussed with global investors during recent road shows for NSE’s proposed initial public offering. Under the plan, NSE shares could trade in the “permitted to trade” category despite formally listing on BSE. Details remain under discussion and may change.

Singapore-based Kembangan Capital Partners has raised $725m, anchored by a sovereign wealth fund investor, for private equity and venture capital investments across Asia.
Of the amount raised in the first close, $500m will be allocated to fund-of-funds investments, while the remaining $225m will target direct and co-investments in companies. The firm declined to comment.

Newly launched private equity firm Academic Capital Partners is seeking up to $300m for its debut fund to acquire school assets across Asia and the Middle East, targeting growing demand for quality education among affluent families.
Singapore-based Academic Capital Partners is led by Atul Temurnikar, founder of Global Schools Group, and Vishal Thapliyal, a former partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Its ACP Education Opportunities Fund targets a 5% distribution yield, while the general partner plans to commit 5% of the fund’s capital.
