Nvidia close to deal to guarantee about $100bn in credit for OpenAI. (The Information)

Nvidia is in talks to invest up to $3bn in SoftBank-backed SB Energy, which is developing a large Ohio data centre campus for OpenAI. The investment is being discussed alongside a broader financing package that could include around $100bn of credit support for the project.

Nvidia has considered investing about half of the $3bn when the Ohio project is signed and the remainder as part of SB Energy’s planned IPO. SB Energy, which develops power and data centre infrastructure for AI workloads, is targeting a listing as soon as September and could raise at least $5bn.
 
Joshua Kushner’s Thrive Capital discloses $215m Amazon stake. (Reuters)

Thrive Capital held 904k Amazon shares worth about $215.5m as of 30 June, expanding its public-market exposure alongside its private investments in technology and AI companies.

The venture capital firm also maintained stakes in Figma, Oscar Health and Shopify, while its SpaceX holding was valued at $3.23bn at the end of June. Thrive raised more than $10bn earlier in 2026 for its latest early- and growth-stage technology fund.
 
US rocket company Astra Space seeks to raise $250m in comeback bid. (Reuters)

Astra Space is seeking to raise $250m at a $1bn valuation in a funding round expected to close this quarter. The financing would support expansion of its mobile-launch rocket programme and spacecraft propulsion business as the company works to rebuild after being taken private in 2024.

The California-based company is developing Rocket 4, a larger expendable launch vehicle targeting first launches from 2027, while also growing its satellite propulsion business. Astra was valued at more than $2bn after going public in 2021 but was taken private three years later at a valuation of just $11.25m.
 
Investment firm General Atlantic is eyeing an IPO again. (WSJ)

General Atlantic is considering reviving plans for an IPO nearly three years after it first filed to go public. The New York-based investment firm has recently updated its registration documents with the US Securities and Exchange Commission ahead of a potential offering.

The firm manages around $130bn in assets and invests across growth equity, private equity and other strategies. It originally filed for a listing in 2023 but did not proceed with an offering.

Ascend Sport Technology is exploring strategic options that include a reverse merger with a listed shell company, potentially valuing the Swiss sports technology business at CHF500m ($617m) to CHF600m ($740m).

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners has closed its second Growth Markets Fund at approximately $3bn, nearly tripling the size of its predecessor. The fund targets large-scale energy infrastructure projects across 15 high-growth, middle-income markets in Eastern Europe, Asia and Latin America.

GMF II has already committed $1.6bn across nine investments and is expected to be fully deployed within one to two years. The strategy focuses on renewable generation, energy storage and related infrastructure, with backing from sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, family offices and development finance institutions.

First Philippine rejects KKR proposal to buy stake in power generation unit. (Reuters)

First Philippine Holdings has rejected KKR’s proposal to acquire an 8.43% stake in its power generation subsidiary First Gen, saying the offer did not reflect the company’s true value. First Philippine owns 67.84% of First Gen.

The proposed stake purchase was expected to trigger a mandatory tender offer at PHP35 ($0.57) per share for First Gen’s public float, implying a transaction value of about PHP165.44bn ($2.69bn). The tender offer was also intended to support a voluntary delisting of First Gen from the Philippine Stock Exchange.
 
CXMT’s rise to most valuable China firm heralds new tech era. (Bloomberg)
 
CXMT has become China’s most valuable listed company after its market capitalisation surpassed $500bn, overtaking Tencent. The memory-chip maker is considered a key part of China’s AI infrastructure and semiconductor ambitions.

The milestone comes alongside strong investor demand for other strategically important technology companies, including Unitree Robotics, whose Shanghai IPO retail tranche was subscribed more than 5.5k times. Both companies reflect growing market enthusiasm for Chinese hardware businesses tied to Beijing’s push to strengthen its position in advanced technology.
 
Sembcorp said to plan filing for $500m IPO of India unit. (Bloomberg)

Sembcorp Industries is preparing an IPO of its Indian renewable energy subsidiary, Sembcorp Green Infra, that could raise up to $500m. The Temasek-backed company is expected to file draft listing documents as early as August.

Sembcorp Green Infra develops and operates renewable energy assets in India, giving the Singapore-based parent a platform to expand its exposure to the country’s growing clean-energy market.
 
HSG-backed Robotera said to mull Hong Kong IPO as robot tech booms. (Bloomberg)
 
Robotera is planning a Hong Kong IPO that could raise between $800m and $1bn. The Chinese robotics startup, formally known as Beijing Robot Era Technology, is backed by HSG and CDH Investments and is working with advisers on the potential listing.

The company develops robotics technology and is among a growing group of Chinese robot makers seeking public listings as investor interest in the sector increases.
 
Blue Pool Capital raises $1.4bn for debut PE fund Riverside. (DealStreetAsia)

Blue Pool Capital has raised approximately $1.4bn for Riverside, its debut private equity fund, more than doubling the vehicle’s initial $750m target. The fund had reached $1bn in commitments by March and had secured about $1.4bn as of 11 August.

The Hong Kong-based investment firm, led by former Citadel partner Oliver Weisberg, manages capital for investors including Alibaba co-founder Joseph Tsai and is expanding its use of external capital. Riverside is expected to support larger private equity investments across sectors including technology, media, sports, consumer, industrials and financial services.
 
HKEX extends CEO Bonnie Chan’s contract through 2030. (Press Release)

Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing has renewed chief executive Bonnie Chan’s employment contract for a further three-year term from 1 March 2027 to 28 February 2030. Her reappointment has also been approved by Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission. 

Chan will receive a basic annual salary of HKD12m ($1.5m), alongside eligibility for a performance-related discretionary bonus, share awards and other employee benefits. She has served as HKEX chief executive since March 2024.
